India reaches 277m GSM subscribers in Feb
According to figures published by industry body the Cellular Operators Association of India, 9.18 million GSM subscribers were added to India to take the total to 277.12 million. But February figure does not include Reliance Telecom because the growth rate is likely to be flat. Bharti Airtel cemented its position as the country’s leading operator by adding 2.73 million new users and number two operator Vodafone Essar boasts a market share of 23.79%, having added 2.58 million customers and BSNL remains a distant third with its 44.18 million customers. By gaining some ground Idea Cellular was on fourth place. Smaller players Aircel, Reliance Telecom, MTNL and BPL have less than 13% of the market between them. Dhanus Technologies to spend around US$ 20-30 million for acquisitions
Dhanus Technologies, one of the fastest growing alternative telecommunications service provider based in Chennai will invest US$20-$30 million in acquisitions of alternative telecom companies in Europe and Canada to expand the company’s offerings in these markets. Earlier, the company had announced plans to raise US$ 200 million through either external commercial borrowings (ECBs) or debt to fund its European expansion plans. (Read More)
